RPCV Resources

The road travelled by a Peace Corps Volunteer tends to be a bumpy one with the many twists and turns, before and during service.

To provide a smoother ride after service to all RPCVs regardless of COS date, Pax Progressus is here for the inevitable “What’s next…?” and to offer useful insights on the benefits and healthcare received after service, scholarships and career guidance, networks and opportunities for advancement.

As we build out our library, let us know your questions and what topics we should create articles for.

Translating Service to Bullet Points

Translating Service to Bullet Points

Now that you’ve finished service, it’s time to look at what’s next. Your path can take you toward further education or to jump straight into the job market. Either way, you need to translate the experiences and skills from service into bullet points that hiring managers will be attracted to.

Service Buy Back

Service Buy Back

Starting or in a federal job after Peace Corps Service? Do this on Day 2 to increase your leave per pay period and add into your retirement.
Buying back service is something each RPCV turned federal employee should do as soon as they become an official employee. In the immediate present, you become closer to getting a bump up to the amount of leave hours received each pay period. Then, the long term benefit brings your retirement date closer by the amount of time you served. This helps to either A.) retire earlier or B.) gain a higher percent of retirement pay when you do. Check out the instructions within and reach out to your HR department or the representative to get started!
